Here’s Your Health Passport with Forbes Pharmacy

Planning a trip can be exciting, but amidst the thrill of exploring new destinations, it's crucial not to overlook one essential aspect - travel medicine. At Value Drug Mart Boyle, we prioritize your health and safety, ensuring you are well-prepared for your journey, no matter the destination.

Why is Travel Medicine Important?

Travel medicine is a specialized area of healthcare that focuses on the prevention and management of health issues associated with travel. Whether you're traveling for business, pleasure, or humanitarian work, exposure to different environments can pose unique health risks. These risks can be minimized with the right medical advice, immunizations, and health precautions.

When Should You Contact Us?

The best time to reach out to us is as soon as you book your trip. If your destination is outside of North America, we recommend setting up an appointment approximately 2-3 months before departure. Our clinic tends to book one month in advance, and depending on the specific vaccine, you may require more than one dose spaced a month apart.

Cost of Travel Vaccines

The cost of travel vaccinations varies depending on your destination and the necessary vaccines. Rest assured, at Forbes Pharmacy, we strive to provide affordable and accessible healthcare services.

Does Extended Medical Cover the Cost of Travel Vaccinations?

Some extended medical benefit plans may cover the cost of vaccinations offered by our Travel Medicine Clinic. After paying for your vaccines, you will receive a receipt that you can submit to your coverage provider.

Anti-Malarial Medications and Other Travel-Related Prescriptions

Depending on your travel destination, anti-malarial medication may be recommended. Our travel health specialists will counsel you on any recommended medications during your assessment. If required, we will have you complete a medical history form for physician to prescribe the medication, which you can pick up from our pharmacy before your trip.

Appointment Duration

The length of the appointment may vary based on the number of vaccines you require. Please allow 45 minutes to one hour for your visit.

Possible Reactions to Travel Vaccinations

Travel vaccinations may cause muscle soreness, redness at the injection site, and during the first 24-48 hours, you may feel tired and/or experience a headache or fever. These reactions are typically mild and temporary.
